About Gerina Piller

LPGA Tour star Gerina Piller is a relative latecomer to the game of golf. She started playing at the age of 15 but it didn’t take her long to make great strides.

The American excelled as a youngster as she won a state golf championship in 2003. She was also an all-state volleyball player.

The 31-year-old played collegiate golf at the University of Texas, El Paso (UTEP), and won four tournaments as a senior in 2007.

She was also the 2007 Conference USA Individual champion, Player of the Year and the UTEP Female Athlete of the Year.

Piller turned pro in September 2007 and immediately attempted to qualify for the LPGA Tour. However, she failed and played the 2008 season on the Futures Tour.

She attempted again to qualify for the LPGA Tour in 2008, again falling short.

In 2009, she earned conditional status on the LPGA Tour for 2010 but decided to play the entire season on the Futures Tour, where she recorded seven top-10 finishes and a career-best tie for second at both the iMPACT Classic and the USI Championship.

She finished 5th on the Futures Tour money list in 2010, earning her full playing privileges on the LPGA Tour for 2011.

Piller’s continued to make great strides in the world of professional golf in the next couple of years, making the majority of cuts and clinching numerous top-10 and top-five finishes.

The world No 15 has twice represented the USA at the Solheim Cup, in 2013 and 2015.

Her current position in the rankings means she would currently qualify for the Olympic Games in Rio along with Lexi Thompson and Stacy Lewis.
