‘Imagination at its best!’ Watch LET star produce ingenious bunker save
You won’t believe what club Leona Maguire turned to when faced with an impossible shot at the ISPS Handa World Invitational
Just when we thought we’d seen every type of golf shot, Leona Maguire comes up trumps with one of the greatest, most ingenious up-and-downs we’ve ever witnessed.
Playing at the ISPS Handa World Invitational – a co-sanctioned mixed event on the LET and DP World Tour – Maguire found trouble on the par-4 2nd when her approach landed at the back of a wood-lipped bunker.
Facing a near impossible shot with barely room to manoeuvre a backswing, the Irish star was forced to get creative, astonishingly turning to a hybrid to try and pull off the challenge.
A hybrid? From a greenside bunker? The commentary team couldn’t believe it either, but just look how things played out…
“How about this…
“This is one of the greats…
“Imagination at its best!”
Yep, all those things and more as Maguire incredibly managed to stab it out of the sand to about 8-feet, before then holing the putt to complete one of the greatest, most creative up-and-downs we’ve ever seen.
