Celine Boutier has won back-to-back events, can she make it three at Walton Heath?
Winning back-to-back is tough enough, but can Celine Boutier make it back-to-back-to-back wins at the AIG Women’s Open?
She claimed a maiden major title at the Evian Championship, becoming the first Frenchwoman to win on home soil, and then immediately followed up at the Women’s Scottish Open.
Now she’s on the hunt for her third win a row, and her second major title in almost as many weeks, at Walton Heath. What are the chances of her topping the podium yet again?
“I know the odds,” Boutier said.
“To be fair, like even winning two in a row is already pretty low, so I know three is like – it would be unbelievable if it happens, but I’m just not going to put a lot of pressure on myself about that.
“I’m honestly trying to put some good rounds together and see at the end.
“I feel like it’s definitely a little bit tiring because it’s now been three weeks on the road. So it’s definitely starting to settle in that, you know, it’s a little bit — I mean, yeah, it’s not easy to, like, stay focused and motivated.
“But at the same time, it’s also the last major of the year, so I’m just trying to focus on that and trying to finish strong.”
Boutier became just the third Frenchwoman to win a major at Evian – following in the footsteps of Catherine Lacoste and Patricia Meunier-Lebouc.
“Yeah, it was always something I always dream of doing in my career,” she added.
“I feel like winning a major at home is something you definitely want to do, and to be able to do it two weeks ago with the crowds and with my family and some of my family and friends there was definitely something that I probably will never forget.”
