Who is Billy Horschel?
Billy Horschel is one of the nicest men on the golfing tour, and the American has wins on both the PGA Tour and DP World Tour in his long career.
He turned professional in 2009 after graduating from the University of California with a Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management. After appearing at the US Open as an amateur in 2006, Horschel had to wait seven years before making it into another major. It was the US Open again, and he finished T4, which is his best finish in a major to date.
A couple of months prior to that top five finish, Horschel had won for the first time on the PGA Tour. He was victorious at the Zurich Classic, beating D.A. Points by a single shot. Horschel has gone on to win the event a second time, with the 2018 win coming after the change of format. He teamed up with Scott Piercy to become the second pairing to win the event.
In 2014, Horschel won the BMW Championship and the Tour Championship in back-to-back weeks to lift the FedEx Cup. All eight rounds over that two week spell were in the 60s, and he won the season-ending Tour Championship by three shots. Horschel also has a World Golf Championship title to his name, having won the Dell Match Play in 2021. Later that year, he was victorious in the DP World Tour’s flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.
