Will the American players ditch their European Tour commitments?

With political tensions rising, Bryson DeChambeau has suggested the early-year stops in the Middle East might be no-go zones for American players. And he won't be the last

The European Tour’s Middle East swing is just around the corner, with stops in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Saudi Arabia all on the schedule.

This series of events has been able to draw some of the biggest names in golf over the past few years and look to have done so again this year.

The likes of Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson have all confirmed their attendance at the controversial Saudi event and many will also be teeing up in the other events.

Bryson DeChambeau, who won the Dubai Desert Classic in 2019, is set for a return to the region this month where he will bid to defend in Dubai and also play in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

However, due to the rising political tensions between the USA and nearby Iran, DeChambeau has revealed that he may not play in those tournaments after all.

On Tuesday, the American streamed footage of himself playing a video game and answered several questions on everything from food to golf to his cars.

There was some good stuff in there for the golf nuts among us and according to Golf.com’s Luke Kerr Dineen he is “really not sure” about actually going to Abu Dhabi next week.

He went on to say that “no American is safe” and that seems to be the reasoning behind his uncertainty.

So will DeChambeau pull out of the Middle East swing? And will any of his countryfolk join him? As always we will have the latest news on our website and Twitter feed, so keep an eye out for any further developments.
