As if by magic, Tiger Woods’ name has appeared on the entry list for the Masters – the first major championship of 2024…

Tiger Woods has appeared in the field list for the 2024 Masters.

The list of players on the Masters website shows Woods’ name, suggesting the 48-year-old could tee it up in Georgia next month.

The five-time Masters champion withdrew from his last appearance on the PGA Tour at the Genesis Invitational with flu, having only reached the 7th hole of the second round.

Having stated an aim to play once a month on the tour in 2024, Woods decided not to play at The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass, a tournament he has won twice.

Although it is now unlikely that Woods will step foot in a competition in March, golf fans will be encouraged by his entry to the first of golf’s four annual major championships at Augusta National.

He made the cut down Magnolia Lane last year but, as the weather conditions worsened and his ailing leg caused him pain, he withdrew during the third round.

Since winning the Masters and his 15th major title in spectacular fashion in 2019, Woods has played in just seven majors, missed the cut in two of them and withdrawn from two of them.

At Riviera Country Club in February, the site of his last tour appearance and the launch of his new Sun Day Red clothing brand, Woods described his desire to still compete at the top level and how he copes with pain in his ankle and other parts of his body that still remain since the car crash of 2021.

“My ankle doesn’t hurt anymore because no bones are rubbing anymore. But then again, it’s different. Other parts of my body have to take the brunt of it. Just like my back is fused so other of my body have taken the brunt of that,” he said.

“I have two different body parts that are now fused. Yeah, other parts of the body have to adapt. As far as the love, I still love competing, I love playing, I love being a part of the game of golf. This is the game of a lifetime and I don’t ever want to stop playing.

“I love being able to compete, I love being able to enjoy different conversations from across time. For instance, like today, to be able to play with two great athletes, the cross-pollination doesn’t happen with other sports. And this game, I love that and I don’t ever want to lose that.”
