On August 26, 2025, it was announced that the winners of the Scottish Open, Spanish Open, Japan Open, Hong Kong Open, Australian Open and the South African Open would earn a spot at the Masters.
Also, point 17 below has been adjusted to award invitations only to individual winners of PGA Tour events that award a full-point allocation (500 minimum) applied to the season-ending Tour Championship.
One of the great traditions of the Masters is that if you win it, you can return and play for as long as you like. It thrills golf fans to be able to see the likes of Jose Maria Olazabal, Bernhard Langer and Tiger Woods keep playing at one of golf’s great events.
There will also be a list of legends that have won at Augusta who won’t play, but no doubt attend the Champions Dinner. Figures such as Tommy Aaron, Ben Crenshaw, Nick Faldo, Gary Player, Tom Watson, Jack Nicklaus and Ian Woosnam will be just some of the huge names on the ground, but not teeing it up.

How to qualify for the Masters
There are 26 ways through which golfers can book their invitation at Augusta in 2026 as we answer how to qualify for the Masters.
1. Win the Masters
Any player to have won a Green Jacket in previous editions of the Masters will receive a lifetime exemption to the tournament. This is the king of all Masters qualifications.
2. Win the US Open
Each winner of the US Open will receive honorary invitations for the next five editions of the Masters.
3. Win the Open Championship
Each winner of the Open Championship will receive honorary invitations for the next five editions of the Masters.
4. Win the PGA Championship
Each winner of the PGA Championship will receive honorary invitations for the next five editions of the Masters.
5. Win the Players Championship
Each winner of the Players Championship will receive honorary invitations for the next three editions of the Masters.
6. Win the Olympic Gold Medal
The current Olympic Gold Medalist earns a spot at the Masters. A unique spot in the Masters qualifications list.
7. Finish in the top two of the US Amateur
The US Amateur champion and runner-up will both receive invites to the Masters for the following year.
8. Win the British Amateur
The British Amateur champion will receive an invite to the Masters for the following year.
9. Win the Asia-Pacific Amateur
The Asia-Pacific Amateur champion will receive an invite to the Masters for the following year.
10. Win the Latin America Amateur
The Latin America Amateur champion will receive an invite to the Masters for the following year.
11. Win the US Mid-Amateur
The US Mid-Amateur champion will receive an invite to the Masters for the following year. Just another great exemption category for amateurs in this Masters qualifications list.

12. Win the NCAA Individual title at college
The current NCAA Division I Men’s champion will earn a spot at the Masters. A slightly newer addition on the list on how to qualify for the Masters.
13. Finish in the top 12 at the Masters
The top 12, including ties, at each Masters will be invited back the following year.
14. Finish in the top 4 of the US Open
The top 4, including ties, at each US Open will be invited to the following year’s Masters.
15. Finish in the top 4 at the Open Championship
The top 4, including ties, at each Open Championship will be invited to the following year’s Masters.
16. Finish in the top 4 at the PGA Championship
The top 4, including ties, at each PGA Championship will be invited to the following year’s Masters.
17. Win a PGA Tour event
Winners of any PGA Tour event that carries a full FedEx Cup points allocation between the last Masters and the next will be invited. This is a good opportunity on how to qualify for the Masters for many players.
18. Qualify for the Tour Championship
All 30 players that qualify for the PGA Tour’s season-ending Tour Championship will be invited to the following year’s Masters.
19. Current Scottish Open champion (One-year)
20. Current Spanish Open champion (One-year)
21. Current Japan Open champion (One-year)
22. Current Hong Kong Open champion (One-year)
23. Current Australian Open champion (One-year)
24. Current South African Open champion (One-year)
25. Finish the year in the top 50
All players in the top 50 of the Official World Golf Rankings on January 1 will be invited to that year’s Masters.
26. Be in the top 50 of the world ranking ahead of the tournament

All players in the top 50 of the Official World Golf Rankings the week before each Masters, who aren’t otherwise exempt, will be invited to the following week’s Masters.
