Nothing good lasts forever.
Golf fans will soak up every step Bernhard Langer takes at Augusta National this year, as they will be his last.
The two-time champion has revealed he will play in the Masters for the final time in 2024 on what will be his 41st appearance.
His victories at the famous tournament have allowed him to return for as long as he likes. He donned the Green Jacket in 1985 and 1993.
“I’ve been thinking about it for a year or two,” the 65-year-old said before the Mitsubishi Electric Championship on the PGA Tour Champions.
“Every year I play I feel like my game is just too short to compete and I don’t want to be just playing to be playing.
“I would love to compete, I’d love to be on the leaderboard or be in contention and that’s very, very difficult now with my length, lack of length.
“I’m hitting 2-hybrids and 3-woods into par 4s where the other guys are hitting 9-irons and it’s hard to compete against that.
“I’m the oldest in the field I would think this year as well. I always said if I can’t compete anymore against the young guys, then it’s maybe time to say goodbye and I think this year’s the right time.
“My son asked if he could caddie for me and I thought that was a great way to say farewell and goodbye.”
The German has always been a natural at the hallowed venue down Magnolia Lane. As well as winning twice, he recorded seven other top-10 finishes.
Langer became the second-oldest player to make the cut at the age of 63 in 2020 and became the second-oldest player to finish in the top 10 in 2014 at 56 years old.
Stepping into the senior sphere after his career on the main tours, Langer has shown utter dominance with 46 PGA Tour Champions wins and 12 senior major titles.

Having won the US Senior Open for the second time in 2023, he earned a spot at the US Open at Pinehurst in June.
Langer will likely make his last appearance at America’s national championship this year too and he is also set to bow out of the DP World Tour at the BMW International Open in Munich.
