You won’t have to do as much reading of the tee times and schedule of play for the Ryder Cup, compared with a major championship.
For the first two days of action, only eight groups play the golf course all day, taking up a fraction of the slots that a major would use, or what the US Open would have used when Bethpage hosted it in 2002.
Each day, there are two sessions: foursomes and fourballs match play. Team USA have opted to start with foursomes in the morning session of the 2025 Ryder Cup, which is what Europe chose to do in 2023.
In 2025, the first tee shot will be struck at 7.10 am Eastern time in the States, which is 12.10 pm in the UK.
This year on day two, the fourball matches will start at 12.25 pm Eastern time, which is 5.25 pm UK time.
The Sunday singles will begin at 12.02 pm and finish at 2.03 pm local time, which is from 5.02 pm UK time.
All in all, there are 28 matches, and the first team to 14.5 points wins the Ryder Cup. The defending team can reach 14 points and retain the cup with a draw.
