Max Homa is one of the PGA Tour’s newest stars, with his first Tour victory coming in 2019. He has an effortless swing, and has been in the top five in the world.

He played his college golf at the University of California, Berkeley. During his time there, Homa was named a first-team All-American, and won the PAC-12 Championship, shooting the course record on the North Course at Los Angeles Country Club. He featured for the US in the Walker Cup in 2013, and turned professional shortly thereafter.

His first PGA Tour event was the Frys.com Open, where he came inside the top ten. He then finished in 6th place in the Web.com Tour Qualifying School, before going on to win his first professional tournament in 2014. That came at the BMW Charity Pro-Am and his results that season would see Homa secure a PGA Tour card.

His first PGA Tour victory came in 2019 at the Wells Fargo Championship, and he has gone on to win six times on Tour, including winning the Wells Fargo for a second time. Homa also went back-to-back at the Fortinet Championship in 2021 and 2022. Homa also has a win on the DP World Tour which came at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa. The American’s best finish in a major came at the Masters Tournament in 2024, where he finished in a tie for 3rd.

Homa’s early professional career was a struggle, moving between the PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour over his first five years. A T6 at Q School saw him qualify for a Korn Ferry Tour card for 2014, and a 17th place finish on the Tour’s money list saw him make the PGA Tour for 2015. However, he would then yo-yo between the two each year up to 2019, where he got his first victory on the PGA Tour.

Homa and caddie Joe Greiner met at a young age. Homa was 6 when the pair first met, when the pair were playing in Valencia, California. Greiner holds the course record at the par-3 course at the club where they grew up.
