Jeong-eun Lee has been one of Korea’s finest golfing exports over the last decade, with a major championship victory to her name.

Born in Suncheon in the Republic of Korea in May 1996, Lee took up the game at the age of nine after her father got her into the sport. She spent three years away from the game during her adolescence, but returned at the age of 16 and has gone on to do great things.

After turning professional in 2015, Lee quickly became a star on the LPGA Tour of Korea, racking up six wins – including two KLPGA majors – across a two year span. A year later, Lee was victorious at the US Women’s Open to secure her first major championship title, along with her first LPGA Tour crown as well. The Korean has six other major top tens, including a runners-up finish at the Amundi Evian Championship in 2021.

Did you Know?

Jeong-eun Lee SIX?

It might look confusing on the leaderboards, but there is a reason as to why she has the 6 at the end of her name. That is because of the five other golfers with the same name that had gone before her on the LPGA Tour of Korea – she added the 6 to differentiate.

Major Low Round

At the 2021 Amundi Evian Championship, Jeong-eun Lee made history by carding a 61. That round tied the low for a major championship, and incredibly, Leona Maguire managed to do the exact same on the same day!

Rookie of the Year… Twice!

After turning professional in 2015, Lee enjoyed her first full season on the LPGA Tour of Korea a year later. She was crowned Rookie of the Year on the tour, before then claiming the same honours on the LPGA Tour in 2019 as well.

Giving Up The Game

Incredibly, Lee gave up golf during the early part of her teenage years as she was no longer enjoying the feeling of playing the sport. Thankfully, she came back at the age of 16, and went on to do great things!

Can Jeong-eun Lee find her form again and return to her best? Can the Korean win more major silverware? Let us know your thoughts with a post on X, formerly Twitter!
