Who is Ally Ewing?

Ally Ewing is a three-time winner on the LPGA Tour, three-time Solheim Cup player and a constant on the leaderboards.

Born Ally McDonald in 1992 in Tupelo, Mississippi, the American stayed in her home state to go to college. She played for Mississippi State University, and was a two-time All-American during her four years there. She won five collegiate events during that time.

After finishing runner-up at four events on the Symetra Tour in 2016, she finished 2nd on the money list, earning her full-time LPGA Tour card for 2017. Three years later, she claimed her first victory on the sport’s premiere golfing tour. She was victorious at the LPGA Drive On Championship, and shortly changed her surname to Ewing after getting married.

Ewing has won three times in total on the LPGA Tour, and is also a three-time Solheim Cup player. She made her debut in 2019 as a replacement for the injured Stacy Lewis, and has been a part of the team ever since. 2023 marked her third appearance for Team USA in the biennial competition.

Three wins on the LPGA Tour and three appearances in the Solheim Cup. However, Ewing is yet to record a top-5 finish at a major championship. Her best chance came at the 2023 AIG Women’s Open where she led by five at the halfway stage. She fell back to finish T6 at Walton Heath.

Solheim Replacement

Ewing got her break in the Solheim Cup in 2019, replacing the injured Stacy Lewis. She has gone on to play for American Solheim Cup team on three occasions.

Ewing has Type 1 Diabetes and carries a blood glucose monitor with her at all times when playing golf to make sure that her blood sugars remain at the right level.

Matt got into the game of golf from a young age, following his old man to the local golf club. He moved to Leeds after graduating from the University of Central Lancashire with a First Class Honours degree in Sports Journalism. Matt joined NCG after almost five years travelling the world with the Professional Squash Association, working on events in all four corners of the globe.

Matt currently plays a Cobra King LTDx driver and RadSpeed 3-wood. TaylorMade monopolise the rest of his bag, with a SIM UDI, M5 irons and both Milled Grind and HI-TOE wedges, along with a Monza Redline putter. He uses a Vice Pro Plus golf ball, because he’s a bit different…

Away from golf, Matt is a Manchester United fan, and a keen runner, having ran the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon (his first and possibly last), in May 2023.
