The 59 club is one of the most exclusive clubs in golf. It is a realm of immortality that not even some of the sport’s most recognisable names haven’t entered.
To break 60 requires a faultless round of golf. It is not a shock to see a golfer do it anymore, with the quality of the player on show and the length professionals can hit the ball, but it is still some achievement.
There are even some players such as Bryson DeChambeau who have broken 59, an incredible feat the former US Open champion achieved while playing at the Greenbrier in the LIV Golf League in 2023.
Joaquin Niemann became the second LIV Golfer to break 60 when playing in Mayakoba at the start of the Saudi-funded circuit’s third season in 2024.
PGA 59 club: Which pros have broken 60?
Al Geiberger was the first player to shoot 59 in a PGA Tour event. He made 11 birdies and an eagle at Colonial Country Club to make history. It wasn’t until 14 years later when Chip Beck did the same at the Las Vegas Open.
Annika Sorenstam is the only player to do it on the LPGA Tour at the Standard Register Ping in 2001 and Oliver Fisher is the only player to have done it on the European Tour, at the 2018 Portugal Masters.
There has even been one player to break 58. Cristobal del Solar shot a 57 Veritex Bank Championship on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2024. Now, that is just showing off. It was the 13th time that a player had broken 60 on the Korn Ferry Tour.
Cameron Young broke 60 on the PGA Tour in 2024. The American star carded an 11-under 59 in the third round of the Travelers Championship. Then at DP World Tour Q School in November 2024, Vince van Veen shot a 59 albeit unofficial due to preferred lies.
Patrick Reed shot an 11-under 59 in round three of the Hong Kong Open on his way to securing an Asian Tour title.

In the first round of the Cognizant Classic on the PGA Tour in 2025, Jake Knapp made 12 birdies at PGA National on the Champion Course to shoot a 59. It was the course record by a stretch.
