The Arnold Palmer Invitational is a Signature Event on the PGA Tour schedule which means it has an almighty purse to come with it.

There was a $20 million prize purse up for grabs at Bay Hill Club in Florida, $4 million of which was won by Russell Henley. He made an incredible chip-in on the 16th hole to overtake Collin Morikawa, which was the pivotal moment that took him to his first win since 2022.

Henley started the final round one shot behind Morikawa and he was two shots behind with six holes left. But with a birdie on 14 and the chip-in eagle on 16, Morikawa played the last six holes in one-over to finish second.

The best players on the circuit were back for more as we approach a part of the season that features The Players Championship, which truly ignites the run-up to the Masters.

Last year and this year, the winner of the Arnold Palmer Invitational pocketed a cool $4 million, the same amount of money you win if you finish top of the leaderboard at a LIV Golf event. This is what the winner receives at a player-hosted Signature Event on the PGA Tour in 2025.

Arnold Palmer Invitational purse

The Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Memorial and the Genesis Invitational are the player-hosted Signature Events that have 36-hole cuts and give away 20% of the purse to the tournament winner.

Since Bryson DeChambeau won this event in an exhilarating fashion in 2021, the purse has more than doubled. DeChambeau won $1,674,000 of the $9,300,000 purse. This is a sign of professional golf’s direction of travel.

DeChambeau moved to the Saudi-funded LIV Golf League in 2022, whose groundbreaking presence has caused a shake-up to the prize money landscape. LIV gives away $25 million in total payouts at each event, so the PGA Tour was forced to respond in this financial civil war.

Some of the best players in the world have won this event in the last decade. Scheffler, DeChambeau, Tyrrell Hatton, Rory McIlroy and Jason Day have all donned the red cardigan for victory. It is a special event that has Arnold Palmer’s footprint all over it.

Here is the Signature Event schedule for the 2025 PGA Tour season. The Players Championship is not a Signature Event but offers 750 FedEx Cup points for the winner and a total purse of $25 million.

The Sentry: January 2 – 5

AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am: January 30 – Feb 2
