Oh, Rickie! Missed cut for Fowler after mistake even club players rarely make
You would be upset if you, a hacker, did this while playing with mates. Rickie Fowler just did it in a major championship
Rickie Fowler will get over the line at a major championship. He’s just too good not to. And we’ll keep telling ourselves that over and over until he either does it or retires. See also: Donald, Luke; Montgomerie, Colin; Westwood, Lee.
But he won’t be doing it at the PGA Championship after the Californian made the most inexplicable mistake.
Fowler, who opened with a 3-over 73, was going along quite nicely in the second round and was 4-under, 1-under for the tournament, through 15.
Then on the par-4 6th, his 15th hole of the day having started on the 10th, he missed an eight-foot par putt.
Then this happened…
The whiff resulted in a double-bogey 6 and proved decisive for Fowler’s participation in the rest of the tournament as he missed the cut by, you guessed it, a single shot.
Still, nice to know they’re human every now and then, isn’t it?
A weekend of fishing it is.
