Who is Justin Rose?

Justin Rose has had a long and storied career that has lasted across four decades. He has won 25 times worldwide, including a US Open and Olympic Games Gold Medal.

Rose shot to prominence at the 1998 Open Championship, when he finished T4 as an amateur at Royal Birkdale. He holed out on the last from thick rough to secure a top-five finish, and to win the Silver Medal. He then turned professional just a day later.

The Englishman, who was born in Johannesburg, tasted major success in 2013. He was victorious at the US Open at Merion, winning by two shots from Phil Mickelson and Jason Day. Three years later, and Rose made history by becoming the first man in 112 years to win an Olympic Gold Medal in golf. He was the victor as the sport returned to the Olympic programme in 2016.

Rose has also won FedEx Cup Playoffs events, World Golf Championships and Rolex Series events. He is a six-time member of Team Europe in the Ryder Cup, having made his debut in 2008. He has featured on three winning European sides, and makes his sixth appearance in Rome in 2023.

Missed Cut Streak

Following his incredible T4 finish as an amateur at the Open Championship, Rose turned professional. However, he started his professional career with an incredible 21 consecutive missed cuts.

Major Top Threes

Along with his 2013 US Open victory, Rose has achieved the feat of finishing inside the top three at all the majors. He has runner-up finishes at the Masters Tournament (twice) and the Open Championship, with a best of T3 at the PGA Championship in 2012.

Olympic History

2016 saw the return of golf to the Olympic Games programme, with a brand new Olympic Golf Course being built in Reserva de Marapendi for the competition. Rose won the Gold Medal for Team GB, becoming the first Gold Medallist in golf since Canadian George Lyon in 1904.

Rose Ladies Series

Along with wife Kate, the pair set up the Rose Ladies Series in 2020. The tour was announced as the United Kingdom was reintroduced following the COVID-19 pandemic and the ensuing lockdown in the country. Sponsorship from American Golf and Computacenter helped set it up, with Rose influential in getting the series up and running. It continues to this day, with a schedule for 2023.
