1-2-3-4-5-6! Former LIV Golfer chalks up wild scorecard on Asian Tour
Wade Ormsby had a quite remarkable scorecard in his hands after the first round of the IRS Prima Malaysian Open…
Wade Ormsby produced a bag of tricks in the first round of the IRS Prima Malaysian Open.
The Aussie probably thought a day to remember was on the cards after he made a hole-in-one on the 2nd at The Mines Resort and Golf Club in Kuala Lumpur.
It wasn’t that Ormsby didn’t go on to play well. A 69 in any context is nothing to be sniffed at, but throughout 18 holes, the 43-year-old achieved something quite remarkable for good and bad reasons.
He made a two on the 14th and recorded numerous threes on the card too. He made a few fours, and a handful of fives too on day one of the Asian Tour event, with a forgettable double-bogey six on the 9th.
All in all, Ormsby shot 2-under-par and shot every individual score up to a six on the scorecard.

Thanks to his ace, Ormsby could contend for his fifth Asian Tour title and a coveted spot at The 152nd Open Championship at Royal Troon.
The top three players on the leaderboard who aren’t already exempt will earn a spot in the final major of 2024.
The IRS Prima Malaysian Open is part of The Open Qualifying Series and a host of big names such as Lee Westwood, Vijay Singh and Louis Oosthuizen have all previously had their names etched on this particular trophy.
As the avenues to majors are somewhat cut off for LIV Golf players due to their lack of world-ranking legitimacy, a couple of players from the Saudi-funded league are competing for spots at the top of the leaderboard.
David Puig and Sam Horsfield have made the trip to The Open’s Asian leg of qualifying as neither of them has any major exemptions in 2024.
Ormsby played eight LIV Golf events in the breakaway league’s inaugural year in 2022 but hasn’t made any further appearances beyond that.
