Royal St George’s will host the AIG Women’s Open in 2027.

It is the first time that Sandwich will host the tournament, having hosted The Open Championship 15 times.

Collin Morikawa won The Open in 2021 when Royal St George’s last held the last men’s major of the year.

“The AIG Women’s Open is a global sporting event, and we are committed to giving the best players in the world the best stages on which to compete. Royal St George’s is one of the world’s great links courses and will provide a fantastic test for the players,” R&A chief executive Mark Darbon said.

“We look forward to working with AIG to put on a wonderful championship for the fans on the south coast of England in two years’ time.”

The championship will be played from July 28 to August 1. The 2026 championship is being played at Royal Lytham & St Annes.
