Moor Park (High)

Moor Park (High)

Course Information

Set amid 300 acres of mature woodland and fine Hertfordshire parkland, Moor Park features two championship golf courses, the High and the West. Designed by Harry Colt to blend into the grounds of the estate, the club is minutes from London and can even be accessed from Moor Park underground station on the Metropolitan Line. The High course is the premier layout at Moor Park, and venture out onto this course to experience undeniable quality.

Measuring a tough 6,717 yards from the back tees, you only need glance at the scorecard to see that a tough challenge awaits. There are no less than six par-4s which measure more than 400 yards, and water features throughout the entire layout.

Yet the par-5s are not particularly long and there are enough gorgeous par-3s to keep the higher handicap players entertained. You can also always opt to play from the yellow tees at a more manageable 6,424 yards.

The High course has hosted many key tournaments, including the English Seniors Open and the Carris Trophy, which attracts Europe’s best youngsters

The long par-4 8th is the hardest and one of the best holes on the High course. Faced with 467 yards from tee to green, it is imperative that you can hit long and straight should you want to escape with a par.

A good drive will stay down the left side to open a good angle into the green, and the approach is played from a downhill position – usually with a lot of club.

The hole also cleverly guards against those who may look to play short of the green with their approach. The fairway narrows significantly with water on either side, so however you look to play the hole, it will provide a stern test.

The High course has hosted many key tournaments, including the English Seniors Open and the Carris Trophy, which attracts Europe’s best youngsters and has been won by the likes of Sandy Lyle, Ken Brown and Justin Rose.
