The Chevron Championship is the opening major of the women’s season – Glory’s first shot if you will.
In 2024, Nelly Korda won her second major championship at this event by shooting 69 in the final round at the Woodlands in Texas to beat Maja Stark by two shots. This built on her victory at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in 2021.
We are back in 2025 and Korda is still the dominant force in the women’s game. Before winning the Chevron Championship a year ago, she had already pocketed the LPGA Drive on Championship, the Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship, the Ford Championship and the T-Mobile Match Play.
Then after it, she also won the Mizuno Americas Open and the Annika. So it was just the seven wins for Nelly in 2024 and she will hope to defend her crown in 2025. She will no doubt be the betting favourite to win the third major title of her career.
In 2023, it was Lilia Vu who won the Chevron Championship which was part of an incredible year of her own. Two months before, Vu won the Honda LPGA Thailand and went on to win the AIG Women’s Open at Walton Heath and the Annika after that. It seems the Chevron Championship can inspire the stars into top form.
Jennifer Kupcho also went on to win three times in 2022 after beating Jessica Korda by two shots to win the Chevron. That was the final year of play at the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California before it moved to The Club at Carlton Woods in the Woodlands, Texas.
The tee times for 2025 have been released and Korda is grouped with Vu and Tavatanakit for the first two rounds. In round one, they play from the 1st hole at 8.32 am, in the group behind Alexa Pano, Chisato Iwai and Jasmine Koo, and the group after Jin Young Ko, Yuka Saso and Brooke Henderson.
