‘We’ve tried!’ Norman vents more frustration at PGA Tour

LIV’s debut season is now in the record books, but there’s still one quarrel which has ‘disappointed’ Greg Norman more than anything

Greg Norman has once again vented his frustration with the PGA Tour, claiming LIV Golf have “tried on numerous occasions” to co-exist with their rival before pleading there’s “still room” to sit down and solve the turmoil.

LIV’s inaugural season is now in the history books after their Team Championship finale saw Dustin Johnson and the 4 Aces GC take home a mouth-watering sum at Trump Doral in Miami.

But as LIV look ahead to a revamped 2023 season, the unrest dividing golf couldn’t be more rife between Norman’s league and the PGA Tour and DP World Tour – something the Aussie says has “disappointed” him more than anything over the past six months.

“That’s what has disappointed me the most,” Norman told Global Golf Post. [Because] there was always room – always, always, always room – and there still is room for them [the PGA Tour] to sit down and understand what we have and what this is all about.

“The players love it. The fans are loving it. Even the media are starting to grab hold of what the reality of it all is. It’s way better than I anticipated.”

Greg Norman

As it stands, LIV Golf players remain indefinitely suspended from the PGA Tour, with three players including Bryson DeChambeau still entangled in a lawsuit to overturn the ban.

Norman, though, remains adamant his series have done everything they can to try and co-exist with Jay Monahan’s circuit, insisting the ball is now “in their court” over a potential compromise.

“I quite honestly think the ball is in their court,” the two-time Open champion continued. “It’s not in ours. We’ve tried. We’ve tried on numerous occasions, not just me personally but before I even came on board. We’ve had high up people reach out to try and explain it to them.

“We’ve extended an inclusion into the equity side of things where everybody would be the benefactors, not just the players, Every institution would be a benefactor. LIV is definitely here to stay. We are not going anywhere.”
