The LIV Golf League is returning to Hong Kong Golf Club in 2025, a prestigious venue that has hosted many a great champion.

Greg Norman, Rory McIlroy, Peter Thomson, Ian Woosnam, Tom Watson, Jose Maria Olazabal, Padraig Harrington, Bernhard Langer, Justin Rose and Colin Montgomerie have all won the Hong Kong Open which was founded in 1959.

Patrick Reed won the Hong Kong Open in 2024 by three strokes. Having been a DP World Tour venue, it is now part of the LIV Golf schedule and the Asian Tour too.

In 2024, Abraham Ancer of the Fireballs won the event in a playoff against Paul Casey and Cameron Smith. Ancer made a birdie on the par-4 18th hole while the other pair made a bogey. It wasn’t all bad for Casey as his team the Crushers, captained by Bryson DeChambeau, won the team discipline.

All of the LIV Golf stars will be out in Asia. DeChambeau, Smith, Reed, Brooks Koepka, Jon Rahm, Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Sergio Garcia, Tyrrell Hatton. You can’t say the LIV roster isn’t stacked.

So far in the 2025 LIV Golf season, we’ve seen Adrian Meronk win in Saudi Arabia and Joaquin Niemann win in Adelaide. There is even more to play for this year as there are now major spots available for LIV Golfers at the US Open and The Open.

Frequently Asked Questions about LIV Golf Hong Kong

When and where will LIV Golf Hong Kong take place?

LIV Golf Hong Kong 2025 will take place from March 7-9. It will be held at the Hong Kong Golf Club, one of the leading golf courses in the country.

What does LIV Golf stand for?

LIV is the Roman numeral for 54 which is the number of holes played at each LIV Golf event. For 99% of golf tournaments, it is 72 holes.

How does LIV Golf work?

There are 13 regular LIV Golf events in the 2024 season with a team championship finale at the end in Michigan. At each event, there is an individual competition and a team competition.

The top 24 golfers on the 54-man leaderboards will score points. The top eight teams on the 13-team leaderboard score points. To no one’s surprise, the player with the lowest stroke play score after 54 holes wins the event.

In the team format, the top three players’ scores in each four-man team count for the event’s first two days. In the final round, all four players’ scores count, so every shot counts.

Who owns LIV Golf?

The Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, a sovereign wealth fund that is racing towards a trillion dollars in worth, is the primary investor of LIV Golf.

These riches would explain why the top stars have received huge sign-up fees, north of $100,000,000 in some cases, and why this start-up tour has made such a splash in the professional game.

How to watch LIV Golf on TV?

In the UK, the LIV Golf website says you can watch the action at each event on the LIV Golf+ App. In the United States, you can now watch LIV Golf across all Fox Sports channels.
