The Amgen Irish Open is one of the most historic and prestigious events on the DP World Tour schedule.

The tournament often attracts a strong field, and the renewal in 2025 at the K Club in County Kildare is no exception.

The event has been held at a vast number of prestigious venues, including Royal County Down, Lahinch, Ballyliffin, Royal Portrush, Ballybunion, County Louth and Portmarnock.

Rory McIlroy, who won the Irish Open in 2016 at the K Club, Sergio Garcia, Brooks Koepka, Shane Lowry, Patrick Reed, Francesco Molinari, Danny Willett, Tyrrell Hatton, Marco Penge, Jhonattan Vegas, Padraig Harrington and Luke Donald are all in the field.

The Amgen Irish Open has one of the largest prize purses on the DP World Tour with a $6 million payout. Rasmus Hojgaard won €920,329 in 2024 for winning the event at Royal County Down in Northern Ireland.

Many European players are using this event to tune up their game and find some form ahead of the 2025 Ryder Cup, which is taking place later in September.

The prize money has fluctuated a lot in recent years at the Irish Open. When Jon Rahm celebrated both of his Irish Open wins, he also banked over one million euros as they were Rolex events at the time.

When John Catlin won the Irish Open in 2020, the purse was €1,250,000, and he banked €208,334. This was in the same year as the COVID-19 pandemic.
