The DP World Tour returns to action in Spain at the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucia Masters as the circuit edges towards the schedule’s finish line.
Where is the Andalucia Masters 2024 being played?
The Andalucia Masters is played at Real Club de Golf Sotogrande. This course is around the corner from Valderrama which used to host the event and in an area of golfing heaven that also features La Reserva.

How does the Andalucia Masters 2024 work?
Just like the vast majority of professional golf tournaments, certainly on the DP World Tour, there will be 72 holes of stroke play where a portion of the players will be cut at the 36-hole stage based on their scores. Nothing too confusing in Spain this week.

Who could win and who is playing at the Andalucia Masters 2024?
In terms of who could win the event in Spain, most people will look to Jon Rahm. The two-time major champion moved to LIV Golf earlier this year, but he is back on the DP World Tour while his fines and suspensions for playing in conflicting events are under appeal. You can read more about that here:
Why can Jon Rahm play on the DP World Tour and will he be allowed at the Ryder Cup?
He has never won this event, but he has won the Spanish Open three times, so the 29-year-old clearly thrives when playing in front of his home crowd. Fellow LIV Golfers David Puig and Eugenio Chacarra are also in the field. You can read about why they are exempt here.
Why can LIV Golfers play on the DP World Tour?
Spanish Open champion Angel Hidalgo, Omega European Masters champion Matt Wallace, Irish Open champion Rasmus Hojgaard and his brother Nicolai Hojgaard are all in the field too in what is a stellar European line-up.

Thorbjorn Olesen, Thriston Lawrence, Laurie Canter, Matteo Manassero and Dan Brown are all playing too.
Why is the Andalucia Masters important?
This is a huge week for several reasons. Firstly, Rahm is using this event to play on the DP World Tour for the fourth time this season which will allow him to keep his membership in 2025, and crucially his eligibility for the European Ryder Cup team too.
Also, there are vital Race to Dubai points to be won with only a few events left. The top 70 players after October 27 will make the DP World Tour playoffs. But failing that, players will be looking to keep a place within the top 115 of the rankings to keep their membership for 2025.
115 is a provisional cut-off, but you can assume the mark won’t hugely deviate, meaning the players have this event and the Genesis Championship in South Korea to jostle for positions.

How much do you get for winning the event?
The prize purse for the event has been set at $3.25 million. While we wait for the official winner’s figure to be revealed, check out how much the 2023 winner Adrian Meronk won here:
