One of us! Watch as Ryder Cup star hits brutal shank-duff combo
Viktor Hovland did something we’ve all got in our locker at the Scottish Open. Watching through your fingers is advised
If the Scottish Open is supposed to act as a dress rehearsal for the Open Championship, Viktor Hovland might be getting more than just stage fright ahead of the final major of the year.
The Norwegian got off to the roughest of starts before teeing up at Renaissance when his clubs and luggage got lost on a connecting flight to Edinburgh.
Despite fixing up some replacement sticks ahead of the co-sanctioned event, Hovland’s week then went from bad to worse during round one of the Scottish Open when he produced a painfully relatable shot combo on the par-4 4th.
Proving again that tour pros can be just like us, Hovland first hit a dreaded S-word as he attempted to dial in a wedge from 120 yards. His face just about said it all…
Already looking like he needed a hug, Hovland then completed the most brutal of sequences when he followed the shank up with a duff, lashing the ball a whole yard from behind a bush.
Viewer discretion is advised..:
Hovland would go on to make – or save, depending on how you want to look at it – double-bogey.
The only way is up, Viktor.
