Monte Rei Overview | NCG Top 100s: European Golf Resorts

Jack Nicklaus Designed Courses

The Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course at Monte Rei opened in 2007, and golfers enjoy views of the Serra do Caldeirão mountains to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the south. The Par 72 course measures at almost 7,200 yards from the back tees, and it has been set into the surrounding landscape effortlessly.

Water comes into play on eight of the 18 holes on the North Course. The par-3 14th is one of the signature holes on the North, with water bordering the left side of the green. However you can’t aim too far right, as you’ll end up in the back bunker.

The closing hole on the North Course also has its difficulties as you get to the green. A long par-5, the option is there to go for the green in two, but with water to the right of the green, that is definitely a risky option.

Having already established the North Course as one of the best courses in Portugal, Monte Rei has begun construction on its South Course, another 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Course. Cementing its place at the pinnacle of European golf resorts, Monte Rei will be one in a select list of clubs worldwide to have two Jack Nicklaus Signature courses.

Monte Rei Golf Academy

Monte Rei is not only home to the Jack Nicklaus Signature North Course, but there are plenty of practice facilities on offer as well at the Monte Rei Golf Academy. The Academy offers tuition, custom fittings and much more.

Not only is there a stunning driving range at Monte Rei, but the venue is also the home to a Swing Studio. The Swing Studio at Monte Rei allows visitors to receive a custom fitting by qualified professionals.

The Swing Studio is an interactive experience, where golfers can see what their swing looks like. The team of professionals can assist with tuition and the aforementioned custom fitting, to make sure golfers are using clubs that will suit their games to bring handicaps down.

Luxury Accommodation

The Monte Rei Resort is home to different types of accommodation, where no expense has been spared to make sure that guests staying in the resort are treated to a luxurious time on the south coast of Portugal.

The resort’s accommodation includes Clubhouse Residences - modern one, two and three bedroom apartments and penthouses, surrounded by landscaped gardens, just minutes from the famous Monte Rei clubhouse.

There are also two and three bed villas, which exude all the comfort and charm of a private home, elegantly furnished and surrounded by extensive manicured gardens; these spacious villas offer generously sized terraces with a private and cool outdoor dining area.

The biggest properties at Monte Rei are the villas that come with their own private pool. These are available in both three and four bed options, to give space to the entire family. They each have luxurious en suite bathrooms, private gardens and terraces and elevated sea views.

Monte Rei Real Estate

Not only can you stay at Monte Rei for a week or two, but you also have the opportunity to buy into the Monte Rei lifestyle. With the relatively low cost of living and an attractive array of incentives, overseas investment in holiday homes, buy-to-let and turnkey properties in the region continues to grow.

Clubhouse Residences, a range of two bedroom apartments and penthouses, and three bedroom duplex penthouses, provide all the comforts of modern living at Monte Rei. There are also Miradouro Linked Villas, which are thoughtfully designed and luxuriously appointed. Each three bedroom villa is characterised by its surroundings, drawing inspiration from the beauty of the region.

There are also plots to buy as well. Dotted along the Jack Nicklaus Signature North Course, the North Plots have spectacular views across the fairways and beyond. Meanwhile, there are also the Miradouro Plots. The Miradouro Village is the perfect place for anyone, of any age, whether they’re looking for a fuller, more active lifestyle or they simply want somewhere to explore and relax, to escape the demands of everyday life.
