Trolley test: Motocaddy M5 Connect vs. Powakaddy C2i
Motocaddy M5 Connect vs. Powakaddy C2i: The technology
One of the great things about the M5 Connect is the way the screen syncs with the free mobile app for accurate yardage information and notifications. We are massive fans of this technology – it’s easy to use and makes like easier out on the course.
New for 2018, the C2i has a full-colour widescreen display with a host of features including battery life indicator and integrated USB charging port.
Motocaddy M5 Connect vs. Powakaddy C2i: On the Course
The M5 Connect is a very smooth and quiet trolley which is feels powerful, premium and well-made.
The C2i is a sturdy mover with good power when going up hills. Tee, ball and pencil holders are a neat addition.
Motocaddy M5 Connect vs. Powakaddy C2i: NCG verdict
These are both fantastic bits of kit. They are very well made, innovative and stylish products.
I can’t see how anyone would be disappointed if they had invested in either.
So which do we prefer? Well, the Powakaddy C2i is smaller when folded which is kind of the point to a compact trolley so it takes the points there.
But the Motocaddy M5 Connect does have a smoother folding mechanism and is one of four in the M-range with the M1, M1 DHC and M3 Pro so there are more options.
Powakaddy have the FW7s GPS but maybe they could have added their superb GPS technology to the C2i or at least had it as an option.
Ultimately it comes down to personal preference – a bit like Coca-Cola or Pepsi, PlayStation or Xbox – so seeing as the M5 has the same colours as my favourite football team, I’m slightly swayed in that direction.
