Stromberg The Open Parker Polo Shirt: NCG summary
NCG SUMMARY
Straight away the bold two-toned design of this really caught my eye. I was also really impressed with the fit and freedom of movement this provided.
Overall this is a lovely polo shirt and a great addition to any spring summer golf wardrobe.
PROS
- Comfortable fit
- Classic, stylish
- Subtle branding
CONS
- Bold colour, may not be for everyone
First impressions
The Open Curtis polo shirt is available in just this colour (but with different options in Stromberg’s recent collection release), not something I would usually pick out, but the design grew on me the more I wore it. It seemed fitting to test this on a quick golf trip to Wales where I tested the polo at the incredible Aberdovey Golf Club. A nice warm day with a cool breeze seemed the perfect conditions for the Open Parker Polo.
It is styled with a traditionally buttoned placket and collar highlighted with the famous Claret jug. Stromberg has designed the whole Open collection release really well; subtle branding of both the brand and the Open has resulted in a smart look across the board.
On Course Testing
On the course, the polo was also a pleasure to wear. For reference I am 6ft 1 and around 100kg’s (conservative statement), I wear an XL across most shirts and the fitting of the polo was excellent. No tightness or rubbing and the polo stayed fitted around body without needing to be readjusted after each shot. The moisture wicking stretch fabric allowed me swing the club with no problems or tightness from any part of the shirt. Furthermore, the 50+ SPF protection ensured optimum protection to the user. I’ve worn the shirt multiple times since the testing and have had no problems in washing it, and also doesn’t require an iron between rounds.
The 19th Hole
From initially thinking the colours were a little bold for me and my golfing ability, I really liked it the more I wore it. The Open Parker polo is fast becoming on my favourite items in the wardrobe and will get plenty of use in what we have left in the golfing season.
Overall, I really liked the shirt and it will be a staple moving forwards in what we have left of the British Summer. Smart on the eye, easy to wear, what more could you need?

He loves all things equipment and is often caught in the office eyeing up yet another driver. He plays off a handicap of 15.6 which he doesn't like reminding rounds up to 16.
