How does the Titleist TS1 driver perform?
Titleist TS1 driver review: The results
Visually this club looks almost identical to the Titleist TS2 in set-up position but as soon as you pick up the TS1 you realise just how lightweight this club is.
TS1 is specifically designed for people with moderate swing speeds, so players with clubhead speed of 85mph or less. With my current TS2 driver I have an average clubhead speed of 94mph (which you can see below) so this club isn’t necessarily designed to provide me with optimal performance but I was excited to go test it out and see what results it produced.
Straight away this club felt remarkably easy to hit, I felt like I could swing this really smoothly and didn’t need to worry about hitting at the ball. The strikes were great and really consistent which you can see in the smash factor data below. I also found my dispersion was really accurate throughout my testing.
Overall I gained 1mph clubhead speed, 5mph ball speed which saw me achieve an extra 9 yards of carry.
This driver is specifically designed to increase launch angle and overall height of drivers to maximise carry distances. My trajectory with this driver was definitely increased with one shot reaching a height of 117 feet compared to 99 feet with my TS2.
The TS2 provides me with a more penetrating ball flight, with the TS1 I would definitely struggle into the wind due to the height of the shots. You can see in the numbers I gained less run out due to having a steeper land angle due to the higher trajectory.
Overall I really enjoyed testing this product and was massively impressed with the results I saw.
Titleist TS1 driver review: NCG verdict
If you have a moderate swing speed and are looking for more ball speed and extra height on your drives this club definitely offers just what Titleist say it does.
As there are so many different driver options in the TS range, I would highly recommend getting custom fit to make sure you find the right club for your game.
