Review: Skechers Go Golf men’s and women’s range for 2020
Skechers golf shoes 2020: Go Golf Elite 4
First impressions: I’ve always favoured keeping things simple with my golf shoes, whether classic or trainers style. I went for the navy and lime option because I have a golf jacket in the same colour scheme, but others are available.
The technology: The Elite 4 is an addition to Skechers spikeless range. It has a low-profile design to keep you closer to the ground. Comfort is a key element of this shoe thanks to their Ultra Go and Goga max cushioning, while leather uppers offer waterproof protection.
NCG verdict: Incredibly comfortable as you’d expect, but still important to validate. And totally waterproof. I had them on for a couple of rounds in wet conditions and there were no leaks, even when trudging through rough hunting for my all too regular errant tee shots. If only my golf balls could be so well behaved.
RRP: £99
Colour options: Navy/lime; Charcoal/red; Black/white; Grey/lime; White/navy
Skechers golf shoes 2020: Go Golf Max Rover
First impressions: Forget what I said about the classic look, I loved these from the moment I opened the box. They aren’t waterproof, but very stylish and comfortable.
The technology: Designed for ease of use the Max Rover has stretchy material around the ankles so they can be slipped on and off without worrying about the laces. The multi-material shoe has a mixture of leather and breathable knit all covered in a water-repellent coating.
NCG verdict: I’ve been wearing these more off the course than on. Given the untimely appearances of storms Ciara and Dennis, it’s been difficult to play any more than a handful of holes at a time with these on, but I’ve been to the driving range a fair bit. They aren’t the most stable golf shoe I’ve ever worn but if you place a premium on style and comfort, then these could be perfect, especially when the weather improves.
RRP: £89
Colour options: Black; Charcoal
