TaylorMade’s Qi4D LS driver delivers speeds that will have you in disbelief, and the distances aren’t bad either
TaylorMade’s LS drivers have always been about speed, and the Qi4D LS might just be their fastest driver to date. No, seriously, this is Bugatti Veyron levels of speed.
The brand has introduced a radical changed and reworked shape for their LS model. It is equipped with an aggressive aerodynamic profile to help unlock this staggering ball speed potential.
It’s a completely new silhouette for TaylorMade’s LS line, and one that screams speed. But, that’s not the only area a golfer needs their driver to perform. So, is this a solid around driver choice or is it just a speed machine? Find out in our TaylorMade Qi4D LS driver review below…
The TaylorMade Qi4D LS is all about speed, and lots of it. With a radically reworked aerodynamic shape and TaylorMade’s proven carbon-face technology, this is one of the longest drivers on the market. .
This is not a driver built to mask swing flaws, but for golfers with the speed and consistency to handle it, the Qi4D LS offers tour-level performance in a compact, confidence-inspiring package. Get it fitted correctly and it has the potential to be a serious game-changer off the tee.
PROS
Outstanding ball speeds
Extremely low spin rates
Compact shaping
CONS
Obviously not as forgiving as other drivers on the market
First Impressions
I am a fan of the styling TaylorMade has opted to use with the Qi4D line-up this year. The carbon-heavy finish has a certain premium look to it that I prefer from my driver.
With being the more tour-preferred driver out of the range, the LS has lost some of the alignment aids which are seen on other models, but that only enhances its compact appearance.
The shaping is clean, minimal and confidence-inspiring for stronger players who prefer a traditional, neutral setup.
As I mentioned earlier, TaylorMade’s work on aerodynamics is a central part to this altered design. The raised rear section allows the head to cut through the air more efficiently, and that isn’t just marketing PR, the performance gains in speed are very real.
NCG Verdict
The other TaylorMade Qi4D are very good, in fact most TaylorMade drivers are very good. You’ll go a long way to find a bad one, but this LS model simply sets itself apart from the rest in terms of performance.
Ball speeds were consistently the highest I had seen from any driver during my testing. I was able to reach peaks of 165–166 mph, with club speed climbing north of 110 mph. Silly numbers really.

That meant my distances were inflated with my carry pushing 300 yards, numbers that eclipsed everything else I have tested this season, by a bit of a distance as well.
Spin rates were impressively low without becoming unmanageable. The launch sat in what I would call the optimal window, producing fairly towering but penetrating ball flights.
These shots just felt like they were soaring forever in the sky. When struck well, the LS delivered distance gains in the region of 15–20 yards compared to other drivers I have tested this year, which is an enormous margin at this level.
What I thought was particularly impressive was how playable the speed feels. This isn’t a driver that demands absolute perfection every swing.
While mishits will naturally be punished more than with more forgiving drivers, the carbon face still provides a solid, stable feel that encourages confident, aggressive swings.
TaylorMade’s carbon face continues to be a standout feature. I thought the feeling at impact was both solid and powerful. It just has this sensation that is almost egging you you on to swing harder rather than guide the club.
I have always been under the belief that there is a distinct difference compared to titanium-faced drivers, and this enforces that belief. The feedback is strong without being harsh, and centre strikes feel explosive.
Final Thoughts
I’m all in on this new low spin driver from TaylorMade. They have produced something genuinely special with the Qi4D LS.
The speed gains are not incremental, they’re dramatic. It’s the longest driver I have tested this season, no question. I think we will all be seeing a lot of this club over the next 12 months on our TV’s as it is one that could easily find its way into the bags of elite players.

If distance is your priority and you have the swing speed to handle it, the Qi4D LS is an absolute weapon.
