Nothing feels like a Mizuno. If only that sentiment resonated with their drivers as strongly as it does with their irons, they would undoubtedly be considered one of the main driver options.

For 2026, the brand has aimed to change the narrative surrounding their drivers with the introduction of their new JPX One range. A line-up that includes the more tour refined JPX One Select.

NCG SUMMARY

The Mizuno JPX One Select is the stronger of the two new JPX One driver heads. I found it delivers a more stable ball flight and less ‘spinny’ drives. The feeling at impact was a lot more solid than the standard head.

Like the other driver head, this wasn’t the quickest driver I have ever used but the overall performance does mean it competes with other major brands.

First Impressions

With having a tour-inspired head, the JPX One Select features a deep face and a small overall footprint. This does give it a compact look at address and this can be a little intimidating for some golfers. But, for me this is my ideal driver shaping.

Mizuno JPX One Select Driver

I don’t have any real negative notes on the blue design. It’s something that gives the driver a bit of distinction to other driver offerings and has no effect on its functionality. In fact, it frames the golf ball quite nicely.

NCG Verdict

Being a more tour refined driver, I was expecting the Select to be a suitable match for my game. In short it was. The numbers were of a level that is really a demand for a leading, modern driver.

Considering Mizuno market this as the fastest driver on the market, let’s start off with the ball speeds. I was able to produce ball speeds of between 159 and 162 mph during my testing.

Mizuno JPX One Select Driver

A peak of 162 mph matched the output I had previously been able to muster with leading Callaway and TaylorMade models. These ball speeds are competitive but fall short of verifying Mizuno’s claim that the driver is the fastest on the market.

The spin rates were spot on. They were very manageable falling between 2100 and 2700 rpm. I was able to launch the ball more efficiently because of this which lead directly to increased distances of the tee.

Speaking of distance, my carry distances typically fell in the 270–280-yard range when struck well. I have to say, these are impressive and I’d have no complaints if I was seeing these numbers out on the course week in, week out.

Mizuno JPX One Select Driver

The driver is engineered with a fade bias, making it an ideal option for better players who want to avoid a left miss. The head shape and weighting encourages a neutral-to-fade flight, which meant I was able to find the centre of the club face more frequently.

Final Thoughts

For me and many other lower handicappers this is the best performing Mizuno driver ever. It delivers strong, repeatable numbers, a confident feel, and ball speed figures that match those of major-brand competitors.

I think this is an indication that Mizuno has certainly started to close the gap on their competitors in the driver category. It offers real value for players seeking modern performance at a price that is comparative with the Major brands.
