First Impressions

As with the rest of the Aerojet range, I really like the fast sporty look of this club. I also like the more rounded fairway wood shaping that Cobra have opted for in this model.

I like the fact this is a fairly small compact model but is still aimed at the mass market, offering lots of forgiveness.

NCG Review

I love testing hybrids and was really impressed with this model straight off the bat due to its consistency. My carry distances varied by under 10 yards from front to back which is really helpful, especially when trying to control the ball into the greens.

Disregarding one shot to the left, my left-to-right dispersion was also really tight at just 20 yards wide. You can see the dispersion is slightly right bias, but this was due to the fact I was hitting with a left-to-right wind this day.

The Pwr bridge weighting on the sole positions the cg lower in the head than a long iron. This means the launch of this is higher than you would see with a long iron which made it very easy to hit. This is perfect if you want to launch the ball higher and get the ball stopping quicker on the green. Launching the ball higher will generally help players get more carry distance as you will be able to increase your hang time.

In terms of ball speed this was pretty consistent with what I would see with my current 4-hybrid. This is ideal as I am looking for 185 yards of carry distance with this club to ensure it fits the relevant gap in my bag.

The Pwr bridge weighting on the sole positions the cg lower in the head than a long iron. This means the launch of this is higher than you would see with a long iron. This is perfect if you want to launch the ball higher and get the ball stopping quicker on the green. If however, like me, you already hit it high, you may be better off looking at the Cobra King Tec hybrid as this isn’t the easiest to hit lower-flighted shots with.

The spin averaged out at 4810, which is perhaps on the high side for me but would work for slower-swinging golfers who want to keep the ball in the air longer and help keep their ball on line. In this design Cobra have used artificial intelligence to create more efficient spin for added forgiveness and control across the clubface.

While testing this on the range and in a variety of lies on the golf course, I was really impressed with the versatility of this club. The deep body design has been paired with a high bounce leading edge which gives the club the ability to glide through different turf conditions easily. Having a longer club that works well from the fairway and rough is important to me for scoring and this really ticked those boxes. I even found it easy to use around the green for bump and run chip shots.

The only thing I would like to see different with this hybrid is more adjustability at the hosel. It would be great to be able to tweak the lie angle or loft to get the club perfectly dialled in for your swing and the relevant gap in your golf bag.

This is definitely an excellent 4-iron replacement for those who want something more forgiving or higher launching out on the golf course.
