Numbers don’t lie and they are pretty remarkable when it comes to Titleist marquee golf ball range. When it comes to PGA Tour players 70% use a Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball when competing for some of the biggest prizes in golf.

NCG SUMMARY
Like the Titleist Pro V1, the new iteration of this golf ball provides golfers with a premium option to put into play. The ball spins more and launches higher than the other ball but still produces brilliant distance off the tee through quick ball speeds.
A noticeably firmer feel embodies the golf ball. To no ones surprise the performance on the greens was also quality and very productive for all golfers.
Yep, it is still white, round and has a glossy look. In other words it looks like a golf ball. Although, having hit a number of different generations of Pro V1xs over the years I was eagerly anticipating taking this out on the course and it didn’t disappoint, that’s for sure.
NCG Verdict
Prior to testing I had hit this ball a few times, collecting some data from 50 yards shots, 6-irons strikes and some drives. So, I had an idea about the performance levels going into testing them out. It also gave me a chance to grasp a full review to compare with hitting them around a golf course.
The new Titleist Pro V1x has been designed to produce a higher flight and spin a fraction more than the Pro V1 model. It is has also been moulded to provide further distances than the previous generation. The new technology helps to deliver increased distances on longer strikes but more spin on approach shots into the green, as well as a better overall feel.
Throughout testing, this golf ball did feel quite firm especially in comparison to the Pro V1. With the irons and the wedges in hand, the Pro V1x felt fast and firm for those longer distances. There was also an evident distinction between the sounds of the two golf balls.

In terms of the technology included, Titleist have developed a faster high gradient core. This is where the new level of speed is being promoted from, as well as the added distance.
Consistency off the tee was a big standout I found during testing. I hit a couple shots off the first tee at Fulford Golf Club and they ended up virtually on top of each other.
To dive deeper into the data of those driver shots, I found that the ball was very much doing what it said on the tin. The Pro V1x flew with a strong amount of spin, more than that of the basic model. This is partly to do with the difference in the dimples between the two new golf balls. There are 388 tetrahedral dimples in the Pro V1, whereas there are 348 in the Pro V1x.
In the shots I hit the peak height didn’t register as high as I thought it might and with the Pro V1 spinning slightly more it didn’t go as far as the Titleist Pro V1. The average carry was down around three yards between the two golf balls off the tee. However, I still managed to produce a strong on course yardage average of 279 which I was pleased with.
The average total yardage was a similar story, coming up just short of 300 yards whilst the Pro V1 was just over the 300 mark.
The biggest gain using the Pro V1x is the high spin rate to stop the ball quicker on the greens. It spun around a 100rpm more which will help those players control the ball better into the greens, especially if you don’t have a high ball flight.
There were no surprises with how well this golf ball performed around the greens. Titleist balls have always been one of the best feeling on the market and that was no different with their latest offering.

Overall, the Titleist Pro V1x has noticeably produced quicker ball speeds than that of the previous generation of Pro V1xs. Although it has a higher launch and spin rate than that of the Pro V1 it by no means balloons in the air. Golfers, as a result, are able to access plenty of distance.
