The Masters: What's in Bubba Watson's bagApril 14, 2014 The Scoop
We take a look at what Bubba Watson had in his bag for his 2014 Masters triumph
Bubba Watson has a mix of highly personalised and standard issue clubs in his bag.
His Ping G25 driver was very reliable on Sunday and he also held a number of crucial putts. The 366 yard drive on 13, which allowed him to hit a wedge to the green, and the clutch par putt on 17 were both key moments.
He even opted to use his 4-wood on the tee at 18 when he had a comfortable three shot lead.
Watson said of his drive on the par 5 13th: “I’ve hit it there a few times there. I’ve been lucky enough to play here many years ago and I’ve hit wedge to that hole a few times. Today I hit a sand wedge in there; I hit 56‑degree sand wedge in there.
“I knew it, when it took off, it was cutting a little too much. I knew I hit it really hard. Obviously, when you get a roar on your tee shot, you know it’s pretty good. I could start breathing again once I hear them clapping and roaring.
“To get that up‑and‑down on 17 was very big for me, even though I’d still have a two‑shot lead if I didn’t, to get that up‑and‑down on 17.
“So on 18, I just grabbed a 4‑wood right away, tried to hit the fairway somehow and get it in play, and I did. It came out perfect, a little tiny draw, so I knew it was going to go out there a little far.”
