Which clubs did Rory McIlroy use to become the first European to win three WGC titles?
Rory McIlroy has made a series of successful equipment changes in 2019, including his driver, fairway woods, wedges and, most importantly, he’s finally settled on a putter.
He has been rewarded with the changes, he has had a tremendous 2019 season winning the Players Championship before winning the RBC Canadian Open, the Tour Championship and the big bonus that comes with and now the WGC-HSBC Champions.
Let’s take a look inside his winning bag…
What’s in McIlroy’s bag?
McIlroy switched to the TaylorMade M5 driver at the start of the year and has it cranked to 7.5°. For his fairway woods he opts for the TaylorMade M6 in 15° and M5 in 19°.
The Northern Irishman is using the same iron set up that he was using towards the end of 2018, but he likes to mix it up.
He is gaming the TaylorMade P750 Tour Proto 4-iron and the TaylorMade P730 5-9 irons. They are stamped with ‘Rors Proto’.
Although Rory has been gaming the TaylorMade Hi-Toe wedges recently he has swapped to the TaylorMade Milled Grind in 52°, 56° and 60°.
We all know about McIlroy’s putting woes in recent years. He has failed to settle on the greens but it looks like the Northern Irishman may have hit the jackpot with his latest change – not just financially.
He added the new TaylorMade Spider X Copper into his bag at the start of the year and hasn’t looked back.
