Rory McIlroy WITB 2018. Check out the clubs the four-time major winner has been using at the PGA Championship at Bellerive.
The Northern Irishman was quick to put the new TaylorMade M3 driver in the bag at the Abu Dhabi Championship at the start of 2018.
And McIlroy also added a new Mitsubishi Tensei Orange shaft which he claims helped add a bit more ball speed.
TaylorMade told us the shaft is counter balanced which allowed more weight in the head.
Apparently McIlroy was losing the odd shot right with Tensei White ( we’re talking 5 – 10 yards).
When he went to the Tensei Orange it clicked in terms of barely any drift in the left to right wind he was testing in – it was giving him a 2/3 yard draw.
Speed was also up due to counter balance and more mass in head.
And he has made a few other tweaks from last year which seem to have worked when he won the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March
It was McIlroy’s first win since signing for TaylorMade in May 2017.
But don’t forget it took him 17 months to land a win after singing with Nike in 2013.
McIlroy has been through a few putters this year but seems to be settled now on the TP Collection Black Copper Soto.
Like most tour players these days McIlroy splits his iron set with TaylorMade P750 and P730 models in the bag.
Another switch has been from his M3 5-wood to the TaylorMade P790 UDI 2-iron.
And he uses the TaylorMade TP5x ball.
