Ping have released details of their latest prototype – a driving iron designed to offer better players a low-spinning, low-flying option off the tee.

The Rapture driving iron is cast from stainless steel and features a thin, fast face for more ball speed.

Heel-toe weighting places the centre of gravity low and at the perimeter of the clubhead to increase resistance to twisting and produce a penetrating, flat trajectory.

Indeed, this makes the club ideal for playing in the wind. As does a special weight plug in the sole that reduces spin.

Although this is all the information we have, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them in the bags of some of Ping’s tour staff at Muirfield this week.
