Meet the man getting rid of golf’s dress code
No ‘stuffy’ golf dress codes and no long lists of rules. Sounds like paradise, doesn’t it?
Well, that’s the ethos at Leicester Golf Centre, which is aiming to ‘put the fun back into golf’ by offering some amazing facilities and a very novel way of doing things.
It lives by only one guiding principle: “you’re only here for a good time. So enjoy yourself.”
PGA advanced fellow professional Anders Mankert, who was handed England Golf’s Lifetime Achievement Award last year and in the past has been voted the UK’s number one instructor, is behind this different approach.
So in a new video series focusing on interesting people in the sport, Harvey Jamison went to meet him and find out all about the venture.
Tom Irwin
Tom is a lifetime golfer, now over 30 years playing the game. 2023 marks 10 years in golf publishing and he is still holding down a + handicap at Alwoodley in Leeds. He has played over 600 golf courses, and has been a member of at least four including his first love Louth, in Lincolnshire. Tom likes unbranded clothing, natural fibres, and pencil bags. Seacroft in Lincolnshire is where it starts and ends.
