Lee Westwood WITB. Ping would be first to admit that Westwood used to be a bit of nightmare when it came to getting him using their latest equipment.
But the long-time Ping staffer has a bag pretty much full of their latest gear.
Including the brand new Sigma 2 Fetch putter which we reviewed recently.
His driver of choice is the G400 LST – a model he has been using ever since it was launched ahead of the 2017 US Open.
Westwood also opts for the G400 3-wood before the one club in his bag which is a few years old – the Ping G hybrid.
The Englishman made the switch from the i200 to the i210 irons early this year.
He loves the i210 so much he’s even got Ping to make him up a sand wedge in the model.
So he actually carried two U wedges but one has been tweaked to 54˚ while the other is at the standard 50˚.
It’s quite interesting to see Westwood use the Fetch model from the Sigma 2 range.
Although Westwood is hardly a spring chicken any more, the Fetch was designed to allow people to pick the ball out of the hole without bending over.
Westwood didn’t take advantage of this technology as he landed his 24th European Tour win at Sun City.
When it comes to his golf ball, Westwood is a Titleist loyalist. His model of choice is the Pro V1x.
Westwood’s victory marked 3,000 worldwide wins for the Pro V1 franchise since it was launched 18 years ago.
It was also Westwood’s first victory with girlfriend Helen Storey on the bag.
We had seen Westwood back with long-time bagman Billy Foster at the Turkish Open last week.
