LIV Golf have had their say following the PGA Tour's lucrative announcement, and the responses are just as fiery as you'd all expect

It didn’t take long for LIV Golf to weigh-in after the PGA Tour announced a series of lucrative changes to their top-end structure, and of course their response was just as hostile as you’d all expect.

Barely a few hours had passed since Jay Monahan revealed the four big money changes coming to the PGA Tour in 2023, and LIV’s CEO Greg Norman was first to take a stab, taunting his rival league with yet another audacious social media post…

The war of words weren’t finished there, either. Next up was LIV Golf itself, issuing a blunt 17-word statement in response to the PGA Tour’s monetising attempts to cope with the league’s ever-growing threat…

Then, it was time for the players. Having already commented on his leader’s Instagram post with laughing emojis, Lee Westwood spoke exclusively to Golf Digest, firing shots at the PGA Tour for ‘copying’ LIV, while bashing those who continue to criticise his league over the millions being thrown at the series.

“I laugh at what the PGA Tour players have come up with,” Westwood said. “It’s just a copy of what LIV is doing. There are a lot of hypocrites out there. They all say LIV is ‘not competitive.’ They all point at the no-cut aspect of LIV and the ‘short fields.’

“Now, funnily enough, they are proposing 20 events that look a lot like LIV. Hopefully, at some point they will all choke on their words.”
