The clubs Rose used to win the Farmers Insurance OpenJanuary 27, 2019 Golf Equipment
We all know he's signed a 10-club deal with Honma but which other clubs is the World No.1 using? Equipment editor James Savage takes a look
Justin Rose WITB. The Englishman made a huge equipment change at the start of 2019.
But his performances don’t seem to have been affected as he picked up where he left off in 2018.
Rose signed a deal to play Homna clubs which ended his 20-year relationship with TaylorMade.
Well, not ended fully as he’s still using a TaylorMade fairway wood and the TP5 golf ball.
As we explained recently, Rose’s decision to leave TaylorMade and go with Honma was mainly due to flexibility.
And more specifically, the flexibility to use whichever putter he wanted.
“That was a big factor in having that flexibility,” Rose told Golf Digest. “The putter was a huge reason why this conversation [with Honma] started.”
Having more input on the design process behind his irons and wedges was also a key factor.
Rose is using the brand new Honma TW 747 driver which the brand hope will make an impact in the North American and European markets.
Honma are already one of the biggest brands in Asia.
Rose has put a new TaylorMade M6 fairway wood in the bag which shows he’s still working closely with the brand.
His irons are the TW747 Rose Proto which he obviously had a big part in the development of.
The wedges are also bespoke with a very clean and simple design. He has been using a new tour issue Vokey lob wedge.
His putter is an interesting one.
It’s an Axis1 prototype. Axis1 are based near Boston and claim their putters are perfectly balanced for a more consistent delivery.
