WITB: Ian Poulter - Houston Open

Take a look at the Titleist clubs and trusty 'Medinah' putter than Ian Poulter used to land a fairytale victory in Houston...

Ian Poulter WITB. We’d almost given up hope of an updated version but the Englishman just doesn’t know when he’s beaten.

The Titleist staffer bounced back from the disappointment of the WGC Match Play, where he thought he’d done enough to make the Masters, to win his first stroke play event in American and book his ticket to Augusta.

He relied on a bag full of Titleist clubs but recently switched back to the trusty Odyssey putter he used to ignite Europe’s comeback in the Miracle of Medinah.

And after shooting a one-over par round on Thursday in Houston, this surely must rate as an even more impressive and unlikely turnaround.

Needing a birdie to force a play-off on the 72nd hole, Poulter made no mistake from 20ft which dealt a body blow to his opponent Beau Hossler who then made a mess of 18 as they went back to the tee.

Poulter claimed his first PGA Tour win since signing a club and ball deal with Titleist a couple of years ago with the 917 driver and 3-wood.

His iron model of choice is the 718 AP2 but he also carries a T-MB 4-iron.

Poulter was one of the first Titleist players to put the new Vokey SM7 wedges into play.

He favours the Pro V1x ball.

Oh yeah, and about that putter. It’s an Odyssey #7 White Hot – very similar to the model used by Henrik Stenson and dozens of other tour players.

We have a feeling Poulter will be using this model at Augusta – and every other tournament he tees it up in from now on.
