Finally! New LIV recruit provides the honesty we’ve all been waiting for
The sport’s worst kept secret is finally out after LIV Golf unveiled the capture of Cameron Smith along with five other players ahead of its next event in Boston.
But in amongst all the turmoil succeeding the announcement, one of those new recruits, Harold Varner III, took to social media to explain exactly why he joined the breakaway league. And, for once, we all got some refreshing honesty…
“The opportunity to join LIV Golf is simply too good of a financial breakthrough for me to pass by,” Varner wrote on Instagram. “I know what it means to grow up without much. This money is going to ensure that my kid and future Varners will have a solid base to start on – and a life I could have only dreamt about growing up.”
That’s right, none of that “growing the game”, “more time with family”, or “innovative format” nonsense which have continued to rile fans, players and pundits alike, just straight up honesty from Varner. Man’s getting paid.
Whether you agree with Varner’s decision to join LIV or not, the statement quickly had fans applauding his honesty, with even a couple of DP World Tour stars getting involved…
