What is a medal?
A medal, or often referred to as ‘medal play’ is exactly like strokeplay. In most golfing terms medal play refers to the qualifying rounds that lead up to a matchplay event or the qualifying medals at local golf clubs.
How would I use it in a sentence?
“Do you want to play in the Wednesday medal competition this week?”
What are the origins?
Medal play is just a synonym for strokeplay and with strokeplay being the main format in golf along side matchplay medal play has been around for many years.
Any other business?
Medal competitions, that are classed as qualifiers are the competitions that a club golfer can play in to try and decrease their handicap.
