FootJoy Thermoseries Trouser review: First Impressions

Today we are reviewing the trouser of the newly introduced Thermoseries layering collection from FootJoy. The best trousers for use in cooler conditions need to be comfortable and provide protection against the elements. It’s helpful if they look good as well.

FootJoy Thermoseries Trouser review

The Thermoseries trouser is available in two colours, navy and charcoal. I tested the navy version.

These felt like a premium garment immediately out of the box. It is a mid-weight trouser with a lovely soft feel inside and out due to the stretch fleece fabric. There are four large pockets and a FootJoy motif just next to the right-hand rear pocket. I couldn’t find the snowflake logo that is present on the rest of the Thermoseries range. The waistband features a Jacquard knit liner which adds to the premium look and feel.

FootJoy Thermoseries Trouser review: On The Course

The trousers fitted true to size and are as comfortable to wear as they are nice to look at. There is a modern flat front with a tapered fit. The gripper waist kept my shirt firmly in place. The fleece fabric felt really good next to the skin and there is a noticeable stretchiness to the garment.

I tested these trousers in cool but not cold temperatures on several occasions, and they performed exceptionally well. They kept my lower half warm and cosy even in breezy conditions. The fabric felt breathable as there was no moisture build-up during play. I actually got caught in a brief downpour, and the DWR finish worked a treat in that the rain just bounced off the trousers as if they were waterproof.

FootJoy Thermoseries Trouser review: The 19th hole

I have generally been really impressed with the function and flexibility of other offerings in the Thermoseries range and I feel that this trouser is probably the pick of the bunch. There’s nothing not to like about it and it’s already a firm favourite in my golfing wardrobe.

The style, cut and unobtrusive logo means that this is something that could easily be worn away from the course but I think I’ll get plenty of use from it on the golf course too. I highly recommend these trousers which are well worth a five-star review.
