Duca Del Cosma Positano golf shoes review: NCG Summary

5 star review
NCG SUMMARY

If you’re looking for style and comfort, then look no further than these Duca Del Cosma golf shoes. The Positanos have extremely soft, premium quality Italian nappa leather, and the memory foam insert makes these the most comfortable shoes for men I’ve tested.

You can wear these on the golf course, in the bar and out to the supermarket if you want to; they are light, breathable and a joy to wear.

PROS

  • Extremely comfortable out of the box.
  • Excellent traction.
  • They’re beautiful, I mean, look at them?

CONS

  • Not the most supportive shoe during the swing

First Impressions

Before you even get the shoes out of the box, you know these shoes are incredibly high quality. The box they turn up in is excellent and comes with a white shoe bag to keep them in. This is a lovely touch; Duca Del Cosma has nailed the user experience already.

These shoes look magnificent. I’d be pretty happy to wear these on the course and then out for dinner; they’re so smart.

Duca Del Cosma Positano Golf Shoe Review

As a lover of golf shoes, you can’t really tell are golf shoes; these are right up my street. I love the tan leather trim, and Duca Del Cosma were nice enough to provide some white laces in the shoe box, so I swapped those out to make them a tad more neutral.

Putting them on I couldn’t believe how comfortable they are, this is largely down to the breathable ARNEFLEX® memory foam insert sole with recycled cork that makes walking really soft. The leather uppers are also incredibly soft and require no breaking in at all.

One peculiar thing about the Duca Del Cosma Positano shoes is that they are not available in half sizes. I ordered my regular size 7, which are probably slightly on the wide side when first on, but at the end of the round, they felt absolutely fine. Duca offers a 28-day return policy, so wrong sizes can always be rectified.

On Course Testing

I wore the Duca Del Cosma Positano shoes during NCG’s shoe-testing week at The Alwoodley Golf Club, and this shoe is perfect for that venue. The turf was firm and dry with very little mud about, and the sun came out for a couple of hours and I didn’t have to clean them at the end of the game.

As much as I love spikeless shoes I do normally have at least one right foot slip mid-downswing per round, which I usually blame on the shoes but it happens often enough for me to know it’s more likely a technique issue.

I am extremely happy to report my back foot didn’t slip once in the swing, with the Positanos giving me plenty of stability and optimal grip throughout the swing. They felt great in bunkers, long rough and on the greens and my feel felt relatively fresh at the end of the round which was brilliant.

The 19th hole

I strolled straight from the 18th green to the bar after my shoe-testing round and didn’t look out of place at all. All of Duca Del Cosma’s shoes are fashion inspired and don’t look at all out of place at a non-golf location. I will no doubt wear these as casual trainers and shoes to teach in too this year.

To extend the life of these shoes it would be worth treating the leather, and they will clean up easily with a damp towel after a round if you, heaven forbid, wear them on a wet muddy course.

I think the quality of the shoe absolutely justifies the price of the Duca Del Cosma Positano golf shoes. They have clearly been put together with the highest quality materials and will last you if you look after them. I just personally would only use them in spring/summer in the UK as to not ruin them!

His favourite club ever owned was a Ping G10 driver bought from a local top amateur with the hope that some of the quality golf shots would come with it (they didn't), and worst was a Nike SQ driver he only bought because Tiger was using it.
