Cobra Ultralight Sunday Golf Bag review: First Impressions

Taking it out of the box, I really loved the design. The different shades of grey in blocks make up a camouflage design that looks great. If this design doesn’t float your boat, Cobra does offer this in five other colours that are mainly block colours.

This was the first time I have tried a golf bag with a long pocket on one side without a smaller one on the other side. This pocket has almost just been replaced with a water bottle holder. I guess that this stops you from over-packing a bag that is designed to be light and helps you carry the bare necessities.

I also really like that this bag has a strap that can be used to keep the legs in for when it is on a trolley, as there is nothing more annoying than them sticking out.

NCG Verdict

At first, putting this bag on was a little bit of a struggle as silly as it seems. I found that I couldn’t get the straps into a good position, but after a hole or two of messing about with them, I was set. I’m not sure if this had anything to do with the weight distribution of the bag as it felt like the heads of the clubs were so much heavier than the bottom of the bag. The straps were fairly comfortable on both shoulders and just on one.

The legs came out quite easily when put down but sometimes needed assistance coming all of the way out. Again, I’m not sure if that had anything to do with the weight distribution in the bag.

I really liked that this bag had plenty of handles, making it easy to get in and out of the car. There is a top grab handle above the club divider pockets, then in the middle and at the bottom of the bag.

For club storage, there is a three-way top divider. As someone who carries fourteen clubs, these meant that they did get a little jumbled at times. For me, I would most likely use this bag in the winter, with it being slightly smaller than my normal bag and lighter, and when I would likely carry less than fourteen clubs.

I’m not too sure how waterproof this bag would be if caught in a shower, but there was a waterproof zip on the valuables pocket which should provide some protection. The bag also comes with a standard rain hood that can be popped on and off.

Overall, I really enjoyed testing this golf bag. The aesthetics are great, it is very functional and is perfect for players who want something lightweight to carry.
