Jamie Donaldson tips: Nail your fairway woods
Jamie Donaldson tips
Take your stance with the ball a few inches inside your front foot in order to give you a bit of room to hit slightly down and through the ball.
Have slightly more weight on your lead foot – about a 60-40 split – this again encourages you to descend into the ball with a shallow motion and produce a low, powerful follow through.
Be careful not to close the face and move the clubhead inside in the first moments of the takeaway – if anything, we’d rather see the face be a touch open at the top.
Then, sweep the ball away with a long, flowing swing with an extended follow through – try to imagine you are hitting to a spot a few inches beyond the ball.
