Puma are known for their modern athletic golf shoes. We got our hands on a pair of the GS-Fast model to see how they perform.

Puma GS-Fast golf shoes review

Puma offers a whole range of spiked and spikeless footwear unified by athletic, colourful and sporty designs. We tested the athletic-looking looking GS-Fast model.

NCG SUMMARY

This is a perfect all-rounder golf shoe with striking looks. It performed exceptionally well on-course across various terrains and differing weather.

You will struggle to find a better all-around golf shoe that delivers both on and off-course, especially at the £100 price point!

PROS

  • Waterproof
  • Modern looking design
  • Extremely comfortable
  • Look great on and off-course

CONS

  • Traditionalists might not be a fan of the design
  • Width may be an issue for those with very narrow feet

Puma GS-Fast golf shoes review: First Impressions

When slipping these out the box, you can tell straight away, the GS-Fast are heavily geared towards the on/off-course market. I would be forgiven for thinking I had just walked into Foot Locker and headed straight out into town when putting these on. There is nothing traditional about these shoes, so anyone looking for a 90’s golf brogue, maybe click away now.

These are some of the best-looking golf shoes I’ve seen in some time, they’re incredibly stylish and lean heavily toward a sneaker design. The model I’ve tested is UK 8.5, all white, with a number of silver Puma motifs across the shoe, which are very subtle, which is extremely appealing to me.

Puma GS-Fast golf shoes review: On The Course

I tested the shoes across various terrain and weather conditions over 3 rounds, on 2 links courses and a parkland to really get a feel for them, in some very differing weather conditions. The first day was extremely dry/windy and the second day was exceptionally wet, so they really got put through their paces!

The first thing I noted from the off was the sole of the shoes, these are some of the most comfortable shoes I have ever played in, thanks to the fusion foam midsole. This was a huge notable throughout all my rounds with differing conditions that whatever the terrain, the cushioning remained the same.

Given the difference in courses I was playing and the fact this is a spikeless golf shoe, I expected to uncover some potential problems with stability. I really did test that out from playing on rocks to the beaches, bunkers, gorse you name it they went there. But they didn’t struggle one bit. I can also tell you they are completely waterproof after having to play a shot out of a lake, so no worries on that front!

The only issue I can genuinely say I had with the shoes, which is unfortunately down to human biology, I have exceptionally narrow feet so I really had to pull the laces tight to feel like my foot was fully enclosed, which may be slightly uncomfortable for some.

Puma GS-Fast golf shoes review: The 19th hole

As exceptionally good-looking, comfortable golf ‘sneakers’ these should be a go-to shoe for any day, not just when playing golf. I would wear these to the pub or work with no qualms; I found them that comfortable and stylish.

The price point is also a real positive for me at £100. You will struggle to find golf shoes that offer so much comfort, stability and value.
